    Cookie policy

Exactly what is stored in your browser, why, and how to clear it.

    There are no analytics cookies

Not blocked, not deferred until you agree — there are none. Analytics is Vercel Web Analytics, served from webtype.org itself, which counts visits from the request alone: it writes nothing to your browser and mints no identifier that could recognise you here tomorrow, or anywhere else ever. That is why this site has no cookie banner. A banner exists to ask for a permission, and there is none to ask for.

Google Analytics was used until 30 August 2026, behind a consent banner. It has been removed, along with the banner and the choice it stored.

What is stored, and what for

Puzzle progress and streak, theme and ligature preference, and per-puzzle result identifiers are functional browser storage. A language cookie remembers which translation to serve. If you sign in, a session cookie keeps you signed in; account results and any profile you choose to publish are stored server-side. Each of these exists because using the site asked for it, and none of them enables advertising tracking.

    Clearing it

Clearing site data in your browser resets every item above at once, including your puzzle history and streak. There is no separate analytics consent to withdraw, because none was ever given. Signing out drops the session cookie on its own.
